Val di Fassa / Canazei

Val di Fassa is one of the most beautiful Dolomite valleys in Trentino, and its ski area forms part of the legendary Dolomiti Superski circuit — 1200km of linked pistes, one of the largest in the world. For snowboarders, Fassa offers a well-balanced mix: varied all-mountain terrain, a solid snowpark at Canazei, and direct access to some of the most iconic mountains in the Dolomites, including the Sella Group and the Sassolungo massif.

The Canazei Snowpark

The Canazei snowpark is the freestyle heart of Val di Fassa. Built for intermediate and advanced riders, it features progressive kickers of varying sizes for working on air and progression, alongside a well-constructed rails and boxes section. It is not an XL park, but the quality of the features and the shapers’ work make it a place where you can genuinely improve. The Dolomite backdrop — vertical walls and jagged peaks — makes every session as photogenic as it is technical.

Freeride in the Dolomites

Freeride in Val di Fassa opens onto a vast world thanks to the Dolomiti Superski. The local ski area already offers interesting north-facing slopes, but it is the link with Arabba, Selva Val Gardena and the Sella Ronda that turns a week into something extraordinary. Riding the Sella Ronda on a snowboard is an experience to have at least once — a 26km circular route around the Sella Group with 360-degree views of the Dolomites. For technical freeride, the off-piste terrain around Canazei and Pera di Fassa offers interesting ground after snowfall.

Getting There

Val di Fassa is reachable from the A22 Brenner motorway, exit Egna/Ora, then following the SS48 Dolomites road — one of Italy’s most scenic drives. From both Bolzano and Trento, regular buses (SAD and Trentino Trasporti) reach the valley villages in around 90 minutes. Parking at Canazei is paid; on busy winter weekends, arriving early or using the park-and-ride services in the lower valley is advisable.
