Ponte di Legno / Tonale

Pontedilegno-Tonale is one of the very few Italian resorts where you can snowboard in summer, thanks to the Presena Glacier sitting above 3,000 m. The resort combines the forested slopes of Ponte di Legno and Temù with Passo Tonale and the Presena glacial terrain, forming 100 km of linked pistes spanning Lombardy and Trentino.

Why Go Snowboarding

Pontedilegno-Tonale is one of northern Italy’s most technically complete snowboard destinations. The star attraction is the Presena Glacier: at 3,000 m, it delivers excellent snow from November through to late May, with a glacier snowpark open well into summer. The descent from the Presena to Ponte di Legno — 11 km, nearly 2,000 m of vertical — is one of Europe’s longest and a must-ride for any snowboarder. The Paradiso piste offers another standout line with near-guaranteed fresh snow at altitude.

Terrain & Slopes

The 100 km of pistes spread across 46 runs: 13 blue, 25 red, 8 black. The Presena sector (3,069 m) provides the best conditions and highest terrain; Passo Tonale (1,880 m) is the hub with the most concentrated lift network; Ponte di Legno and Temù (from 1,121 m) complete the system with longer, lower, often forested runs. An officially designated 38 km of freeride terrain adds significant value for guided off-piste riding. Night skiing is available on the Valbione piste at Ponte di Legno.

Snowpark

The park on the Presena Glacier is the truly unique element: active from as early as late October and through to June, it enables freestyle sessions at altitudes impossible at other Italian resorts. Progressive kickers, rails and boxes for all levels. The early-summer season is increasingly popular with snowboarders looking to stay sharp off-season.

Getting There

Car: From Brescia, SS42 through all of Val Camonica; from Trento, SP235 via Passo del Tonale. Train: Edolo is the nearest station (approx. 30 km from Ponte di Legno), with bus connections. Bus: Services from Brescia and Bergamo.

Tips

The resort is part of the Skirama Dolomiti network, which includes Madonna di Campiglio — multi-day passes open up a much wider area. The April–May transition window on the glacier is perfect for sunny spring snowboard sessions without crowds. Staying in Ponte di Legno village is preferable over Passo Tonale for amenities and atmosphere.
