SkiForum is the largest and most active Italian mountain forum: tens of thousands of members and an archive of millions of posts built up over more than twenty years. It is alive all year, off-season included, and a technical question gets an answer within hours.

A distinction worth making

A big forum is not automatically a big forum for snowboarding, and here the difference matters. SkiForum’s traffic is overwhelmingly skiing, and the two board-specific sections — one on snowboarding and splitboarding, one on freestyle and newschool — are among the quietest on it.

Anyone arriving expecting the centre of Italian snowboard discussion will be disappointed. Anyone who knows what to look for will find plenty.

Where the value is for a snowboarder

In the sections that discuss the mountain regardless of what is on your feet. Off-piste, freeride and ski touring is one of the busiest areas of the forum and covers conditions, routes and safety. The gear sections deal with skins, transceivers, packs and clothing — all things a splitboarder needs exactly as much as a ski tourer does.

Then there are the regional and resort sections, useful for working out what the snow is doing before you travel.

In short: if you want board-specific technical discussion in Italian, this is not the place. If you want snow, weather, routes and conditions, it very much is.
