FIS Snowboard World Cup – Racines Parallel Slalom

On Saturday 30 January 2027, Racines (Ratschings), in the Ridanna valley a few kilometres from Vipiteno, makes its debut on the FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup with a men’s and women’s parallel slalom (PSL).

This is not an improvised first attempt: the resort has run Europa Cup races for years, and its organising committee passed the FIS venue inspection (FIS announcement). The FIS Snowboard Alpine race director, Uwe Beier, has indicated an intention to work towards a multi-year agreement, which suggests Racines could become a regular fixture.

The slopes at Racines face north and hold their snow well — a characteristic that counts for a great deal in a late-January race. With this addition, Italy has three alpine snowboard stops in a single season, alongside Cortina d’Ampezzo and Carezza.

Parallel slalom is run on a shorter course with gates set closer together than in the giant slalom: run times are compressed, mistakes are punished immediately, and the margins are often measured in hundredths of a second.
